Plaid Skirts and Polo Shirts
Looking back into the past
makes me realize life is going by way too fast.
I now appreciate my carefree days
as I seek to find my way through life's crazy maze.
Freshman year was full of ups and downs;
old friends lost and new friends found.
Building new friendships, stregthening old,
giggling at sleepovers while secrets are told.
Summertime comes bringing its usual relief,
enjoying endless days and nights while holding on to the belief,
That these are the best times ever
in that sweet, sweet summer weather.
But then fall comes around and school once again,
the first day I'm ready to catch up with my friends.
Tenth grade was a time of laughter and fun,
being with friends and not getting much done.
Summer came and went with its usual speed,
there were whispers of college but I paid them no heed.
Junior year my world turns upside-down,
smiling on the outside, trying to cover a frown.
Homework, S.A.T's, papers, and tests,
trying to determine which college is best.
After one last summer, I'm ready for senior year,
leaving my mark, before I depart with tears.
Making memories that will last forever,
wishing we could always stay together.
The future is a huge uncertain abyss,
when high school is over I will certaintly miss,
All the joys and the hurts,
in those plaid skirts and polo shirts.
